Tanger Med imposes firm ticket for Marhaba 2026
The Tanger Med Port Authority now requires a ticket with fixed date and time to access the port during Operation Marhaba 2026. This rule, already applied for five years in other ports, aims to streamline traffic for MREs crossing the strait.
To board from the port of Tanger Med this summer, it is now necessary to present a "firm ticket", that is to say a travel document showing a precise departure date and time. According to the Tanger Med Port Authority, this measure applies to all passengers participating in Operation Marhaba 2026.
The system is not new: according to the Port Authority, it has been in force for five years in other Moroccan and Spanish ports concerned by Marhaba. Tanger Med is adopting it this year to regulate the flow of travellers and avoid congestion.
In practical terms, this means that one can no longer turn up at the port with an open ticket. The time slot must be fixed in advance. This rule concerns all ports participating in the 2026 operation, whether Moroccan or Spanish.
The Port Authority presents this measure as a means of streamlining traffic during the period of high summer attendance. It does not indicate in the statement whether exceptions are planned, nor how the time slot booking works.
