Chez Lamine Hadj Mustapha Jemaa El Fna – Marrakech

About this place
At the entrance to the mechouis alley, just north of Jemaa el-Fna square, Chez Lamine serves two dishes and has been serving them for decades: mechoui, whole lamb lowered in the morning into a wood-fired oven buried beneath the restaurant and roasted for several hours until the meat falls off the bone, and tangia marrakchia, slow-cooked in an earthenware jar.
The dining room rises from the street-level counter, where the jars line up, to a covered terrace overlooking the souks. You eat here among Marrakchis, at any time of day.
