About this place
Following the course of the Ourika river, you can admire the magnificent landscape of the High Atlas, totally different from that of Marrakech. What to see in Ourika As you explore the area, you can visit the main points of tourist interest: Setti-Fatma: Excursions to see the Ourika waterfalls are organised from this small village. On arrival you will have no difficulty finding a tour guide to carry out the visit in French.
Ourika Waterfalls: If you love nature, the waterfalls will undoubtedly be the highlight of the excursion. Many people take the opportunity to swim in the river, but you will no doubt guess, the water is freezing. The first of the waterfalls is easily accessible, whilst you will need to venture further to reach the following ones.
You will have to scramble and climb to access some parts of the waterfalls, so we advise you to wear suitable shoes. Traditional Berber houses: This is in theory a visit to the heart of traditional Berber life in the mountain villages. Once there you will realise that what is sold to you as an experience of typical life is in reality just a theatrical performance for tourists.
As a general rule the father of the family will show you around his house and prepare you a mint tea. On leaving the house, the inhabitants will try to sell you handcrafted items. Traditional markets: The most popular in the area are those of Ourika (Monday) and Aghbalou (Thursday).
If you arrive in the valley coming from the mountains, at Tahanaout (Tuesday) and Asni (Saturday), you will discover other interesting markets.
