About this place
Hassan Tower Hassan Tower is considered the symbol of Rabat, it is one of the most famous sites in the kingdom. Hassan Tower remains the only vestige of what was to be, at the instigation of the Almohad Sultan Yacoub Al Mansour (12th century), the largest mosque in the Muslim world. This oversized project was not to survive his death in the year 1199, nor later the Lisbon earthquake in 1755. Only its 44-metre-high minaret, with architecture very similar to the Koutoubia in Marrakech and the Giralda in Seville, remains and gives its name to the monument: Hassan Tower.

A place charged with history The Hassan Tower is an unmissable part of Rabat. You're struck from the entrance by the immensity of the site and the view that emerges — a real breath. The columns are impressive: hundreds of stone shafts that stand in silence, vestige of a mosque that was never completed.
