Where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, cosmopolitan Tangier blends kasbah, clifftop cafés and open beaches. A city that inspired writers and painters.

A little history

Coveted since the Phoenicians, Tangier was an international zone in the 20th century, a haven for writers, spies and painters. That cosmopolitan past still shows in its kasbah, its clifftop cafés and Café Hafa perched above the strait.

Getting there

  • Airport Ibn Battouta Airport (TNG) 12 km out, many European flights
  • Train Tangier-Ville station Al Boraq high-speed: Casablanca in 2 h 10
  • Ferry Tangier-Ville & Tangier Med ports ferries to Tarifa, Algeciras and Genoa

The sea

The bay beach edges the city; Achakar beach and Cape Spartel lie to the west, where the two seas meet.
