The Marrakech palm grove stretches over nearly thirteen thousand hectares to the north-east of the city, planted under the Almoravids in the 11th and 12th centuries. You leave the noise of the medina behind in twenty minutes' drive for a landscape of palm trees, ochre tracks and Berber villages. The ride is done at a walking pace, preferably late in the day, when the light descends on the palm fronds and the heat subsides.
