The Menara Gardens
Places to visit · Marrakech
About this place
Just a few minutes from the medina, the Menara Gardens offer a haven of peace where the olive tree reigns supreme. This vast orchard, irrigated since the 12th century, is organised around a monumental basin that reflects the Saadian pavilion and, in clear weather, the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas. Water flows here according to an ancestral hydraulic system, a living testimony to Almohad agronomic genius.
People come here for a stroll in the shade of the olive trees, to contemplate the sunset over the mountains or simply to take a breather between two visits. Marrakchi families picnic here at weekends, visitors find a soothing perspective on the city. Entry is free, making it an accessible stop for everyone to understand how Marrakech has managed to cultivate freshness at the heart of the Saharan climate.

Simple visit, no activities apart from wandering around and enjoying the olive groves and the basin. An exceptional view of the snowy Atlas in the background of the pavilion which you can visit for 60DAM. The park opposite offers a lovely walk through typical vegetation. Very good family time. Bring a cap for the sun.

Very beautiful garden of more than 100 hectares, the Jardin de la Ménara is a true emblem of Marrakech. You can't come to this city and not visit it. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the mid-80s.

Great experience at la Ménara! We did the return journey by horse-drawn carriage and it was fantastic from start to finish. The ride was pleasant, a change of scenery and really relaxing, with a very beautiful setting to enjoy the moment. An outing I highly recommend.

Magnificent olive grove park. The central basin is magnificent in the morning sun. Shame the airport is so close. Beautiful place to recharge.
